Isotel Licenses TDMA Software to Motorola
Calgary, Canada-based Isotel has licensed its TDMA software to Motorola's PCS Group. Under the agreement, Motorola will employ Isotel's TDMA software in its wireless personal communication devices.
Isotel's TDMA call processing software is designed to simplify mobile terminal development. In fact, this software provides the fundamental call processing building block for TDMA-based products, such as mobile phones, connected personal digital assistants (PDAs), intelligent network services, wireless local loop (WLL) terminals, and advanced messaging devices.
According to Isotel, the TDMA software delivers a complete implementation of IS-136 Revision A as well as a list of features that will be included in later versions of the IS-136 standard. These features include intelligent roaming, power management control, and short-message services (SMS).
The call processing software integrates with proprietary baseband and human-machine interface (HMI) designs. It includes a simple application programming interface (API) and an event driven state machine.
Motorola plans to employ Isotel's software in its next generation of phone designs. These phones are expected to hit the market in late 1999.
