IFR Releases Wireless Data Test Software For TDMA-Edge Networks
Radio Data Link Software for the IFR-1900-5 CSA tests handset and cell site data services
Wichita, Kan. -- Nov. 20, 2000 -- Supporting the move into digital wireless data by TDMA-EDGE operators, phone manufacturers and chipset developers, N/A Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IFRS) today released the Radio Data Link test software option for its flagship IFR-1900-5 CSA (cellular system analyzer) test system. The software reduces development time and increases design confidence by testing circuit switched data radio link protocol 1, as defined in ANSI-136.310.
"The Radio Data Link option, when combined with the IFR-1900-5 CSA, is the only solution currently available that tests the TDMA-EDGE data functions being developed by phone and network manufacturers," said Rob Barden, senior product marketing manager, IFR. "Now, engineers involved in development, verification and validation of wireless data protocol and hardware can confidently test their TDMA-EDGE handsets and network products for operation of the radio link protocol layer."
"The number of TDMA-EDGE subscribers recently exceeded 47 million internationally," said Sheila Mickool, President & CEO of the UWCC (Universal Wireless Communications Consortium). "As wireless data continues to grow rapidly, it becomes a strategic part of the TDMA-EDGE operator's business model. IFR's solution will provide quality test capabilities for manufacturers and operators testing digital data on handsets and networks."
"IFR maintains close working relationships with a number of key industry players in the wireless cellular and PCS industry," said Barden. "We worked closely with these individuals to develop this software, and many of the top handset manufacturers have already adopted this as their testing platform for TDMA data services."
About the IFR-1900 Cellular System Analyzer (CSA)
First launched in 1997, the IFR-1900 CSA has established itself as the test tool of choice for operators and designers working to bring TDMA systems to market. It is an integral part of the CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industry Association) conformance testing system for TDMA handsets. With the introduction of the IFR-1900-5 CSA in May 2000, IFR added new capabilities that provide advanced tests for the next generation of TDMA handsets and systems. Multi-band and 800/1900 MHz testing-capable, the IFR-1900 CSA is a true all-in-one cellular/PCS solution for today's advanced TDMA mobile and base station equipment.
