IFR Announces New Test Suite For Cdpd Wireless Handsets And Modems

IFR test suite tests digital data devices on CDPD networks

Wichita, Kan. — Feb. 6, 2001 —N/A Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IFRS) announced today that it has released a new software test suite that tests Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) capabilities on wireless cellular handsets and wireless modems. Designed for use with the IFR 2959 Advanced Multi-mode Cellular Test Set, the new software suite allows users to test CDPD performance of mobile phones and modems operating at 19.2Kbps. "The CDPD software test suite allows designers, manufacturers and operators to fully test the capabilities of CDPD devices," said Rob Barden, senior product marketing manager, N/A Systems. "With the increased demand for packet data capabilities, many manufacturers and developers now require advanced test methods for CDPD systems. IFR's new software will allow users to test various parameters of their devices including power levels and block error rates, as well as protocol performance of their systems."

About the 2959 Advanced Multi-mode Cellular Test Set

The 2959 is a low cost and highly accurate cellular test set with a full set of troubleshooting features for AMPS and TDMA (IS-136A) cellular handset and wireless modem testing. Its CDPD cellular modem tests include GMSK modulation and burst power measurements. CDPD is a separate packet radio service deployed in many cellular networks. The 2959's CDPD test mode simulates the functions of Mobile Data Base Stations (MDBS) and Mobile Data Interactive Systems (MD-IS) which provide stimulus and response necessary to test Mobile End Systems (MES), also known as wireless modems.
