Highland Technology, Inc. is an electronics design and manufacturing company specializing in high quality precision instrumentation and control applications including:

  • Precision analog measurement and control
  • Capture of very high-speed transient phenomena
  • High speed, high resolution timing instruments
  • Electrical and thermal energy metering
  • Precision thermocouple and RTD temperature measurement
  • General purpose process inputs and outputs
  • Cryogenic temperature instrumentation
  • Custom "smart" instrumentation applications
  • Pulse-gradient drivers for NMR applications

Many of the company's products are designed to conform with the IEEE-standardized VME/VXI and CAMAC modular instrumentation systems. This ensures compatibility with thousands of modules and system components manufactured and distributed by worldwide VME and CAMAC suppliers.

Highland Technology designs and manufactures custom OEM products for use in a wide variety of customer applications. It has recently completed a sub-miniature-size digital delay generator and a picosecond timing module, both for imaging applications. In association with Varian NMR Instruments, Highland has designed and manufactured both the pulsed-field gradient drivers and the temperature controllers used with NMR spectrometer systems. Highland has also designed a versatile line of electrical and thermal measurement units, suitable for end-use load studies, electrical and thermal submetering, and demand-side management applications.

    MARKETING-REPRESENTATION

Highland Technology markets its products both through professional manufacturers' representatives and its own marketing staff. Highland offers several instrumentation products in a representation arrangement with Berkeley Nucleonics Corporation. Highland has also worked with Enernet Corporation, its manufacturing distributor for the K20 data logger, to develop electrical submetering units for markets overseas and to serve the U.S. energy metering market.

    MANUFACTURING PLAN

Highland Technology's normal business operation is based on the premise that in-house facilities, equipment, and staff are used for production of prototypes, for research and development, for repairs, and for final assembly and performance-testing. Highland uses carefully screened assembly houses for some manufacturing tasks in order to accomplish its production goals most efficiently. Working in this way, Highland consistently achieves high quality in production and maintains flexibility and speed in product delivery.
