GraSen Technology Announces Broadband InGaP HBT Gain Block Amplifier

GraSen Technology, LLC., a provider of technology solutions in the growing requirements for HBT and HFET transistor devices in the U.S. and international markets has announced the availability of a new ultra-linear, high-rel gain block amplifier covering 1 MHz to 4 GHz frequency range with a nearly flat gain of 12.5 dB, Typical, across the entire frequency range.

GraSen Technology's Model GSA804 is a Darlington pair amplifier fabricated with high-reliability InGaP/GaAs HBT (Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor) process. The gain block amplifier has been designed exclusively for RF performance with no loss of gain over the full operating frequency range. The GSA804 is 50 Ohm internally-matched general purpose gain block amplifier designed for a wide range of applications including; mobile infrastructure, ISM, WLAN, RFID, broadband receivers, SATCOM, and test equipment. Additional performance features include 4.5 dB noise figure, linearity OIP3 of +40 dBm, and P-1dB of +20 dBm.

According to Stan Gray, chief technical officer and chief operating officer, "A unique feature of this new gain block's operational performance is the elimination of external equalization or optimization, which can significantly reduce external components required for typical applications." Designers and manufacturers will see immediate cost-savings by using GraSen Technology's new gain blocks by as much as 75 percent over typical manufacturing costs.

The gain block is available in two different lead-free/green RoHS compliant packages. Model GSA804-89 is supplied in the industry-standard SOT-89 package and Model GSA804-12 is GraSen's new surface-mount package 0805. "A unique feature of our package options allow designers and manufacturers a simple fit/function replacement into existing designs or design-in the 0805 for a much smaller footprint." Gray added. The 0805 package measures 0.080 inches long x 0.050 inches wide x 0.032 inches high. All GraSen products are visually inspected to commercial standards. Additional screening and inspection is available.
