San Ramon, CA -- Giga-tronics Incorporated announced the release of the new GT-8550A series USB power sensors, which cover 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz, are fully calibrated, feature high dynamic range, fast measurement speed and include easy-to-use PC-based application software.

The new Giga-tronics GT-8550A series USB power sensors offer easy-to-use, high-performance RF and microwave power measurement, delivering outstanding performance and exceptional value. High dynamic range and pulse (peak) capability make these sensors ideal for testing in wireless communications applications and Defense EW systems. The GT-8550A features a ruggedized body to reduce damage in field service applications. These broadband power sensors provide high accuracy for R&D laboratory, manufacturing test and field installation and maintenance applications.

The GT-8550A includes four models that deliver up to 26.5 GHz frequency range, 2,000 readings per second typical, wide dynamic range of -60 to +20 dBm and ultra low VSWR 1.09:1. Included is Giga-tronics' MeasurementXpress software, an easy-to-use interface and a suite of measurement capabilities. The MeasurementXpress software includes a full-featured instrument driver and can implement the functions of Strip Chart, Pulse Profiling, modulations modes of CW, Modulated Average Power and Burst Average Power, and Crest factor and standard math functions.

The GT-8550A series USB power sensors include an option for level output and trigger input, ideal for use with Giga-tronics microwave signal generators in external leveling applications. "USB power sensors are gaining popularity and wide acceptance due to the portability factor, the lower cost and the ease of use with a PC. Giga-tronics' entry into the market comes after extensive development to provide a high performance sensor with a rugged robust design to increase immunity from rough handling," Rodrick Cross, vice president of sales and marketing at Giga-tronics, stated.

Giga-tronics will be demonstrating the GT-8550A USB Power Sensor at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium 2008, June 17-19 in Atlanta, GA, at Giga-tronics' booth #1115.
