Freespace Systems Introduces The First 1,000mW High Performance 802.11b/g Radio

HASTINGS, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Freespace Systems enters the high performance 802.11 miniPCI radio market with the Valemount KXS30SG – the first full 1 Watt miniPCI radio module available worldwide.

Freespace Systems and StarOS, both from Valemount Networks Corporation, are responsible for hundreds of thousands of successful wireless network deployments worldwide and recognized as a pioneer and the worldwide leader in wireless networking performance.

Freespace Systems, Inc. today introduces the Valemount KXS30SG, an FCC certified high performance 802.11b/g miniPCI radio module delivering 30dB (1,000mW) of power. Based on industry leading RF amplifier design technology developed for use in the WiMAX radio market, the KXS30SG is also capable of far greater power and performance as regulatory domain allowable.

"We're very excited to be the first to market with a radio platform as advanced as this" said Lonnie Nunweiler, Chief Technology Officer of Freespace Systems. "It will allow links to be created in underserved and disadvantaged areas where Internet and telephone service has not been possible before. We support programs delivering Internet and VoIP services in Africa and the KXS30SG radio will be a huge help in our efforts there."

The Valemount KXS30SG is totally platform and operating system independent and will integrate seamlessly anywhere Atheros chipsets are supported. This includes popular operating systems such as StarOS, and the MadWifi drivers utilized by many other wireless operating systems.

The KXS30SG is the most advanced high performance radio of its type in both power and network performance design. The innovative power amplifier is specifically designed to minimize distortion at extremely high power levels thus preserving exceptionally high receive sensitivity across all modulation rates. Network performance features include full support for 5/10/20/40 MHz channel sizes, advanced QoS, as well as full Atheros XR and SuperG support which are all critical to wireless network performance. In addition, the KXS30SG implements advanced RF filtering and blocking for unsurpassed noise immunity, advanced rate control with enhanced error correction, and enhanced compression and fast frames to further improve overall network performance.

"With the KXS30SG, network operators and WISPs can now finally improve their ability to deliver real bandwidth at greater distances without the use of an external amplifier" said Mr. Nunweiler. "It's an effective tool for both long distance point to point, and point to multipoint applications where high bandwidth delivery is a priority."

The KXS30SG is a type III miniPCI form factor radio with both u.fl and MMCX type connectors. It is available now for evaluation and ongoing volume purchases for WISPs, network integrators, and OEMs worldwide. The KXS30SG is available from our distribution partners Microcom Technologies, and Canada based Cue-Link, and their resellers worldwide.
