First LTE-Advanced Signaling Solution With Built-In Fading Introduced By Anritsu Company

Enhanced MD8430A Base Station Emulator Supports 4x4 MIMO and 8x2 MIMO Fading Configurations for Cost-efficient Solution to Verify Mobile Chipsets and Devices

Anritsu Company has enhanced its MD8430A signalling tester with channel fading simulation to create the industry’s first LTE-Advanced signaling solution with fading capability to support 4x4 MIMO and 8x2 MIMO. With the new option, the MD8430A strengthens its position as the leading signaling tester for simulating LTE networks in the lab, providing LTE chipset and device manufacturers with a highly accurate and cost-efficient solution to verify performance in accordance with industry standards.

3GPP-defined fading profiles are supported by the MD8430A with the new option installed. The integrated base station emulator reduces the costs associated with additional test equipment to conduct signaling tests under real-world RF conditions.

Using internal digital baseband processing, the MD8430A applies multipath effects during test execution, and Anritsu’s Rapid Test Designer (RTD) software provides mobile chipset and device engineers with an integrated environment for creating and running fading simulation tests. Its support for LTE-Advanced features, such as Carrier Aggregation and MIMO, make the MD8430A an ideal solution to cost effectively and efficiently verify the next generation of high-performance mobile devices. In addition to testing devices over an RF connection, the MD8430A with fading option also supports a slow-clock digital interface to test designs in a simulation environment before starting expensive ASIC production.

Anritsu has developed the MD8430A as a powerful protocol/R&D test solution to help speed time-to-market of LTE-Advanced wireless devices. In addition to verifying conventional communications procedures, it supports fault operation tests that are difficult to perform at connection with live base stations. Multiple MD8430A models for early chipset and UE development, function tests, and performance tests, plus retrofit upgrades between models, allows users to customize their test investment based on current needs while assuring flexible future upgrade options.

RTD gives users the power to create tests that cannot be done with traditional language-based tools. RTD supports L1/L2/L3 testing using Lower Layer Configuration library and Layer 3 procedure library of UE development. The RTD GUI offers intuitive test case creation by linking procedures with parameters, such as network conditions and message data, at easy-to-understand setting screens, quickly increasing the number of working test cases to shorten development time.
