Precision filter designers are often faced with the need to optimize filter designs using highly accurate full wave microwave electromagnetic (EM) solvers to overcome modeling limitations in standard microwave circuit simulators. However, using an EM solver within an optimization process can be very time-consuming. In this presentation, we will demonstrate port tuning, a new methodology which leverages the accuracy of EM simulation with the speed of circuit theory. This new methodology enables optimization of complex filters and circuits with many variables with incredible speed and efficiency.
