Rockleigh, NJ -- Elcom Technologies has introduced a new C-band frequency synthesizer for SATCOM applications.

Elcom's MFS compact devices employ a single module design implemented with CMOS, ASICs, advanced MMICs, and a dedicated microprocessor. A C-band synthesizer with 125 KHz or 1 KHz step, up to 1.5 GHz bandwidth and an integrated PLDRO requires only 6 watts of DC power -- a 65% savings over competing units. Typical frequencies are: 4.5 - 5.5 GHz, 5.1 - 5.7 GHz, 6.5 - 7.6 GHz, and 7.2 - 7.7 GHz.

In order to meet tough applications, Elcom's synthesizers offer a phase noise of - 110 dBc offset 100 KHz of 2.5 GHz, as well as guaranteed zero phase hits over temperature. In addition, the synthesizers are ruggedized and field-tested for operations over a wide temperature range, shock, and vibration to meet the needs of military requirements as well as IESS 308, Eutelsat, and MIL-STD188-146.

Small size (7.7 inches x 5.5 inches), low 0.73 inch profile construction, ultra-low power consumption, and phase-noise 20 db (better than IESS specifications) make the MFS series ideal for applications in commercial and military SATCOM converters.

Additional specifications for the MFS series include:

  • Frequency Range: 1.5 to 23 GHz (in Bands)
  • Switching Speed: <50 ms
  • Output Power Range: 12 to 18 dBm
  • Spurious Output: -70 dBc
  • Harmonics: -20 dBc
  • Frequency Control: BCD, Serial RS-232
  • DC Power: 12/18 VDC-350 mA, 5/18 VDC 550 Ma

The MFS series can be customized to specific requirements and manufactured in Elcom's high volume manufacturing facility.
