Dual Frequency SMD VCXOs

This new series of high frequency SMD VCXOs offers one of two selectable output frequencies for high speed telecommunication nets like SDH/SONET, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet or Fiber Channels. The "dual frequency" V-810 is available up to 700 MHz and can be switched to a second output frequency by means of a "frequency select" input. This second frequency is needed for FEC bit rates with additional frequency correction i.e. for example 622.080 MHz and 669.32658 MHz in one oscillator case.

Compared with existing VCSO-designs on SAW resonator bases, this crystal based oscillator offers a considerably better frequency stability (overall stability including aging over 20 years is better than /- 50 ppm) The oscillators have very low jitter values (< 0.2 ps rms at a measurement bandwidth from 12 kHz to 20 MHz) which cannot be reached with PLL frequency multipliers or SAW oscillators. The good pulling linearity of the VCXO is also advantageous for stability in difficult PLL-applications. Customer specific requirements may also be considered due to the discrete low phase noise circuit design.
