DoveBid Test And Measurement Group Lands 55 New Customers In The First Quarter

PEMSTAR, REMEC, Xilinx and Others Look to DoveBid TMG For Direct Purchase of Reconditioned Test and Measurement Equipment

Roseville, CA, April 8, 2003 -- DoveBid Test and Measurement Group, one of the country's largest providers of reconditioned test and measurement equipment, announced today that it added 55 new customers in the first quarter of 2003, including such global companies as PEMSTAR, REMEC and Xilinx. Representing industry leaders in aerospace, electronics and communications, these new customers join the more than 2,500 companies worldwide with which DoveBid Test and Measurement Group does business. DoveBid Test and Measurement Group attributes its recent customer acquisition to the company's new customer direct sales model, which allows companies to purchase, rent or lease reconditioned test and measurement equipment without paying reseller fees—commissions that typically average approximately 20 percent of product purchase price.

"Companies are becoming increasingly more sophisticated about reconditioned equipment, and they are no longer willing to buy or rent products from resellers at higher prices and with longer delivery cycles when they can buy direct," says Mike Megown, president of DoveBid Test and Measurement Group, which currently maintains more than 40,000 test and measurement equipment products from over 250 different manufacturers including Agilent, Anritsu, Fluke and Tektronix.

DoveBid Test and Measurement Group's new customers represent needs across a diverse mix of products addressing a number of critical business needs:

  • PEMSTAR (NASDAQ: PMTR), a leading provider of global engineering, product design, manufacturing and fulfillment services, rented more than 30 RF and microwave products for a customer contract.
  • REMEC, a designer and manufacturer of high frequency subsystems used in the transmission of voice, video and data traffic over wireless communications networks and in defense and space electronics applications, purchased signal generators and network analyzers for research and development.
  • Xilinx, the worldwide leader of programmable logic solutions, bought power supplies and oscilloscopes for testing semiconductor components.
  • Zenko Technologies, Inc., an optical measurement company, bought optical measurement equipment for telecommunication applications.
  • Herotek, a quality supplier of RF and microwave components for the military, industrial and commercial markets, bought signal generators for compliance testing purposes.

DoveBid Test and Measurement Group's new customer wins fall closely on the heels of the completion of its 30,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility in Roseville, California. This new facility will allow the company to recondition products rapidly while meeting original manufacturer specifications.
