Maury's digital connector gage kits provide an easy to use, direct reading, self-checking, and accurate way to measure the critical linear interface dimensions of female and male 1.85mm, 2.4mm, 2.92mm and 3.5mm coaxial connectors. Each kit includes two gages (one female and one male); the correct bushings and pins needed for mating with specified connectors; master setting blocks for adjusting the indicator starting position to zero; a torque wrench and an open-end wrench for proper tightening of the connectors. The large, easy-to-read digital indicators toggle easily from English to Metric mode with the touch of a button, so users can take advantage of the higher resolution provided by the metric system (measurement resolution is 0.001mm/0.000040 inches) . Excellent repeatability is achieved by maintaining tightly controlled tolerances on all machined parts.

The connector gage assemblies use a "thread-on" design that best simulates actual connector mating conditions, and ensures that critical contact pin locations can be determined. Centering sleeves are provided in the kits for use in measuring beadless air lines and 2-port standards. Flush-set measurement of slideing loads is easily accomplished with these gages.

Maury digital connector gages are compatible with Mitutoyo SPC Digimatic output for external display of data.

Although Maury gages are normally sold as kits, individual components, replacement parts, and calibration services are also available. The table below lists the available kit models. Additional information on specific gage kits or individual components can be supplied on request.

If this list doesn't include the right kit for your application, please contact our Sales Department or your local Maury representative for assistance.

Applications

The critical interface dimensions (contact pin locations, outer conductor mating planes, etc.) of female and male precision connectors must be manufactured to very tight tolerances to ensure that mated connectors provide proper electrical performance, and to avoid the mechanical damage that occurs when contact pins protrude beyond specified tolerances. Precision connectors are designed to achieve a co-planar mating at the outer conductor mating plane, (i.e., a perfectly mated pair of connectors exhibits a metal-to-metal contact at the outer conductor mating plane).

Destructive interference results when the contacts protrude beyond the outer conducter mating planes, causing female contact fingers to buckle, or break. An excessive gap between center conductors occurs when the contacts are recessed beyond specified limits, and results in poor electrical performance, high reflections, and breakdown under peak power conditions.

Because of these potential problems, all connectors should be gaged after assembly and prior to each use, to ensure that their contact pin locations are within tolerance. This includes the connectors on laboratory test sets, calibration kit components, and cables. Failure to do so can have a high cost in money and high impact on operations during downtime while damaged equipment is repaired. Why gamble with your investment? Maury connector gages make it quick and easy to remove all doubt about your connectors. That is what they are designed to do.
