TCXOs and VCTCXOs reduce frequency variation over temperature through a thermistor network designed to generate a correction voltage. This voltage is then applied to a varactor diode in the crystal circuit so that the crystal frequency is only varied by a small amount. These types of oscillators are ideal for low power applications where warm-up periods aren’t acceptable.
