Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., a technology leader in high-power amplifier products for satellite communications (SATCOM), recently introduced a new, compact, 20-Watt solid-state Ka-band block up converter (BUC) for commercial and military Ka-band satellite communications uplinks.

Customers learn more about this new SSPA and other new products at Comtech Xicom Technology's booth, #743, during the MILCOM 2011 trade show in Baltimore, November 6-11.

The state-of-the-art XTS-20KaL-B1 is designed high data-rate satellite communications uplinks and is available covering 29.0 to 30 GHz, or 30 to 31 GHz. It features 10 Watts of linear power in an 18-pound antenna-mount package, measuring 11.6-inches long x 5.5-inches high x 6.5-inches wide, and is very energy efficient, typically consuming only 180 Watts. This rugged, compact and efficient product is optimized for transportable SATCOM terminals that require high linear power, and is designed to be mechanically interchangeable with existing Xicom solid-state products in X- and Ku-bands for terminals designed to support multiple bands.

The new XTS-20KaL-B1 is packed full of performance features including: temperature compensation, gain control, harmonic filtering, and an output isolator. A complete M&C is available via RS-232 or RS-485.

John Branscum, President of Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., said "Xicom is the world leader in high power Ka-band HPAs. The new XTS-20KaL-B1 is a compact and efficient medium power entry into the solid state Ka-band market which is ideal for customers needing 10 Watts of linear power for their mobile and transportable systems."
