Celeritek was founded in 1984 as a GaAs based high frequency wireless hardware manufacturer. The founders all knew each other from Avantek, one of the early pioneers in GaAs technology. Initially, these applications were technically challenging defense related applications, providing a strong technical foundation for the Company. The resulting engineering talent continues to differentiate Celeritek from its competition with superior elegant solutions, captured from the latest technology.

As the company has grown, and markets have evolved, Celeritek has leveraged its core GaAs wireless expertise to offer effective wireless solutions for the fast moving subscriber and infrastructure markets.

The common focus for all of the Company's current solutions is wireless bandwidth. The clear trend driving exponential growth in the wireless markets is the need for ubiquitous access to networks. As the Internet becomes more and more ingrained in daily lives, the need to quickly deploy and access networks has grown and wireless is the great way to do it.

Celeritek's GaAs semiconductor solutions are extremely targeted towards high capacity subscriber applications. CDMA and upcoming WCDMA wireless transmission standards are uniquely well suited by Celeritek's linear, efficient, transmit PA RFIC's and matched modules. The fact that CDMA offers the highest capacity of any standard, and is the fastest growing market, has supported this direction. As a result, the semiconductor business, through customers like Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, and Qualcomm has shown good growth. Investments in the operation has added capacity to meet future demand.

Celeritek's infrastructure solutions are broadband wireless mmWave transceiver components, and complete mmWave radios utilizing these components. In addition, Celeritek supports satellite based wireless voice and data demands with cost effective, small, light transceiver components. The common focus here is bandwidth. Products are targeted to realize the most capacity possible in wireless voice and data transmission.

Celeritek products most likely have helped transmit your voice/data through a satellite network, your voice through a cell phone, and voice/data through cellular PCS or GSM networks. As the demand for more and more capacity increases, driven by out growing dependence on networks like the Internet, the Company is positioned to be more a part of our everyday lives.
