Capacitance Range Extension: Class I Ceramic C0G Series

Knowles has expanded its Class I Ceramic C0G VM2 Series Capacitors to meet the evolving demands of high-performance LLC-type DC/DC converters. These compact 1210-size chips (3.2 x 2.5 mm) now provide maximum capacitances of 44 nF/1 kV and 66 nF/630 V, delivering higher capacitance values in a small footprint and enabling reduced component count or replacement of two-chip stacks.

Key features of the VM2 series include a vertical novel (VM) internal electrode design that improves performance under high ripple currents, wide industrial temperature operation from -55 °C to 125 °C (AEC-Q200 qualified), and exceptional equivalent series resistance (ESR) for thermal stability in high-current layouts. These attributes make the VM2 series particularly suitable for applications requiring high reliability and performance in constrained spaces.

The series extension addresses growing market needs for higher power density and volumetrically efficient converters, particularly in electric vehicle and industrial power systems. Knowles MLCCs are designed and tested to perform reliably in extreme conditions, including aerospace, defense, and medical electronics environments, with proven endurance against temperature fluctuations, high voltages, and mechanical stress.

By combining compact packaging, superior ESR performance, and robust design, the VM2 C0G capacitors ensure stable and long-lasting operation for LLC-type DC/DC converters in demanding applications.
