Cambium Networks Announces FIPS 140-2 Validation For PTP 800 Series

Cambium — The Only Broadband Microwave Vendor to Achieve Prestigious Federal Certification

Cambium Networks, a leading provider of wireless broadband access network solutions, recently announced that its Point-to-Point (PTP) 800 Series of licensed Ethernet microwave solutions has earned validation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2. As such, users in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies are assured that Cambium’s FIPS 140-2 certified wireless connectivity products meet the stringent requirements for military and government in-field deployments. The PTP 800 FIPS 140-2 covers all licensed bands from 6 GHz to 38 GHz, including National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) 7 and 8 GHz bands. The series will offer federal, military and civilian government agencies the ability to perform mission-critical communications and activities on a tested and proven secure solution for licensed federal bands.

The FIPS 140-2 standard is an information security accreditation program applicable to all federal agencies that use cryptographic-based security systems to protect sensitive information in computer and telecommunication systems. The standard establishes certification through rigorous testing and inspection; all products must pass government-approved review, and federal agencies may purchase only security products that have received validation. The sole vendor with microwave solutions on the FIPS 140-2 validated list, Cambium’s PTP 800 Series, along with its FIPS 140-2 validated PTP 600 Series, now offer federal agencies, government entities, enterprises and service providers validated solutions on all licensed bands from 6 GHz to 38 GHz, including NTIA’s 7 and 8 GHz bands.

“In order to provide the most innovative and trustworthy solutions to our customers in federal markets, it is crucial that we offer products and services that meet the highest security and information assurance standards available for the U.S. Department of Defense,” said Jake Brecheen, president and chief security officer, Confluence Security Group of Amarillo, Texas. “The addition of the Cambium PTP 800 Series to the FIPS 140-02 validation list speaks directly to Cambium’s commitment to security. With this certification, we are confident in offering Cambium products to our customers due to their proven ability to meet the highest standards while delivering the most secure licensed microwave communications solutions on the market for customers in any sector—federal and beyond.”

Designed to support the most stringent reliability and security requirements for wireless connectivity as specified by the DoD, the PTP 800 Series meets specifications for military and federal applications to support communication and protection of mission-critical data. Providing licensed exclusivity, extreme durability, ultra-reliable and secure connectivity, and added capacity for voice and video communications, the PTP 800 Series, along with the PTP 600 Series, also features Layer 3 Quality of Service to enhance prioritization of video and voice communications with a high degree of reliability.

“Cambium’s placement on the FIPS 140-2 validated list is a result of a concerted effort to achieve product excellence in the federal market and for the U.S. Department of Defense,” said Rob Hansen, vice president of product management, Cambium Networks. “With a number of years of product testing and certification behind it, this validation speaks to Cambium’s quality and reliability. We are proud to now offer products that are certified as the most secure and trusted on the market.”

In addition to earning FIPS 140-2 validation, the PTP 800 Series and the PTP 600 Series have also earned JF-12 certification from the DoD. These certifications will enable customers in the federal market to utilize government spectrum to provide more sophisticated networks and complex deployments.
