Cobham's High Performance airborne Electronic Warfare RF and Microwave cable assemblies are so tough they must successfully endure 29 torturous environmental tests before receiving our seal of approval. Test extremes include 65 G vibration, -65° to 200° C at 70,000 feet, and 100,000 flexures, to mention just a few.

Although we built our reputation for high-quality precision coaxial cable assemblies in the tough EW markets, we also provide RF and Microwave cables to non-defense and commercial markets.

Smaller and lighter than MIL-C-17 cables, our rugged antenna Mast RF and Microwave cable assemblies are capable of continuous flexing in severe tactical environments-hot or cold. Compared to corrugated copper air-dielectric cables, our low loss, low VSWR mast RF and Microwave cables can handle more than five times the CW power at one-half the minimum bend radius. Reel-able in lengths to several thousand feet, the RF and Microwave cables can be easily unwound, deployed and rewound hundreds of times without degrading performance.

We've been selected by major air carriers to satisfy critical insertion loss and phase-match requirements for the FAA-mandated T-CAS (Traffic-Alert Collision Avoidance System) and MODE-S programs. Our T-CAS RF and Microwave cable assemblies are manufactured to meet the same reliability and quality as our EW cables, yet offer the airlines the flexibility of field replaceable connector interfaces to eliminate costly "airplane-on-ground" (AOG) delays or flight cancellations.

We maintain a complete in-house RF and Microwave cable assembly manufacturing capability and have been producing quality coaxial cable assemblies for more than 30 years. To ensure high product quality, we design and manufacture our own bulk cables and connectors piece parts that make up these cable assemblies.

Over the years, a complete product line of high-performance coaxial cables has been developed, encompassing RF and Microwave cables that range from 0.09 inch (2.3 mm) diameter FZ09, a very flexible cable, to the large 0.92 inch (23 mm) diameter FE92 flexible cables with extremely low insertion loss for special ground-based applications.

Ruggedized Mast Cables - DC To 18 GHz

Many mobile communications applications require a cable assembly to withstand severe crushing or over bending situations. Cobham offers the WW cables as a solution to this problem.

Radiating Cable Antennas

Cobham's Radiating Cable Antennas operate over broad frequency ranges and they can be used for transmit, receive and simultaneous Tx/Rx applications. This series is suitable for cellular, Bluetooth, and WLAN frequency band installations, as well as airborne, vehicular, and ground-based applications. Antenna lengths are available up to 200 feet. These products are designed to address a wide range of system applications and environments.

Lightweight Cable Assemblies

Cobham has extended its family of high-performance, lightweight cables to include five new cable types covering a variety of outer diameter sizes and constructions. The Cobham FA20RXLW, FA29RXLW, FA46RXLW, FN49RXLW and FN52RLLW augment the company's successful FN34RXLW cable line and are ideally suited for use in electronic defense, launch vehicles, commercial aviation, space/satellites and other general purpose military applications.
