Bourns LTCC Band Pass Filter – Balanced Type Integrates Balun And Impedance Matching For Sub GHz IoT RF Front Ends

Compact 1.6 × 0.8 mm device combines filter, balun, and impedance matching functions to reduce component count in wireless designs

Bourns today announced the Model FBD1608N080D6 LTCC (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) band pass filter - balanced type, a sub‑GHz RF filter‑integrated balun designed for wireless communication applications. The device operates across a 770 MHz to 928 MHz frequency range and combines filtering, balun functionality, and impedance matching within a single component to simplify RF front-end design.

Designers of sub‑GHz IoT systems must address board space constraints while maintaining signal integrity and minimizing part count. Discrete RF implementations can increase layout complexity and introduce variability in performance due to component tolerances and routing inefficiencies. LTCC technology integrates passive elements into a monolithic structure, reducing size and improving consistency.

“Integrating filtering, balun, and impedance matching into a single LTCC device helps streamline RF front-end design while maintaining consistent electrical performance across a compact footprint,” said Edward Liu, Product Line Manager, Bourns.

Design Features and Key Capabilities

  • LTCC construction for compactness and reliability - multilayer ceramic structure integrates passive elements into a stable, consistent, and durable monolithic device
  • Compact size - 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.6 mm, supports space-constrained designs and high-density PCB layouts
