Bourns Introduces LTCC Diplexer For Dual-Band GNSS L-Band Signal Processing In Compact RF Front Ends

Integrated LTCC structure reduces interconnect parasitics while supporting low-loss operation across L1, L2, and L5 frequency bands

Bourns today announced the Model FDP2009N122157H4 , its LTCC diplexer designed for RF front-end integration in GNSS L-band applications where signal isolation, low insertion loss, and compact layout are required. The device integrates distributed inductive and capacitive elements within a monolithic ceramic structure, reducing interconnect parasitics and maintaining consistent RF performance across dual frequency bands.

GNSS receiver architectures require separation and recombination of multiple L-band signals while preserving signal integrity under low-power operating conditions. Discrete filter implementations introduce layout sensitivity and parasitic effects that can degrade isolation and increase insertion loss, particularly in compact designs. As PCB density increases, routing complexity and component count also increase, adding variability across manufacturing and operating environments. Integrating filtering structures into a single component reduces these dependencies and improves repeatability across operating temperature and frequency ranges. The LTCC approach addresses these constraints by embedding the filtering network into a stable dielectric structure with controlled electrical characteristics.

Design Features and Key Capabilities

  • LTCC monolithic construction — integrates inductive and capacitive elements within a multilayer ceramic structure to reduce interconnect parasitics and improve RF consistency
  • Dual-band frequency operation — supports 1164–1285 MHz and 1539–1606 MHz ranges, enabling GNSS L1, L2, and L5 signal separation
  • Low insertion loss — 1.0 dB maximum at 25 °C preserves signal strength and receiver sensitivity in low-power RF front ends
  • Compact footprint — 2.0 × 1.25 × 0.9 mm package reduces PCB area and simplifies routing in dense layouts
  • High isolation and attenuation — ≥20 dB minimum values reduce cross-band interference between low- and high-band paths
  • Wide operating temperature range — −40 °C to +105 °C supports stable electrical performance across industrial and automotive environments
  • RoHS compliant*
