Based On Mediatek's World's First 5G-A Platform, Quectel Wireless Solutions Has Launched The AR588MA, A Leading Automotive-Grade 5G R18 module

Shanghai, China (BUSINESS WIRE) - On January 4, ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 (CES 2026), Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider of IoT and connected vehicle solutions, announced the launch of its AR588MA, a 3GPP R18 compliant automotive-grade 5G-A module.

This series of modules is built on MediaTek's world's first 5G-A platform, the MT2739, achieving four core breakthroughs: full-area signal coverage, high-speed connection transmission, AI intelligent network adaptation, and automotive-grade safety assurance. This provides strong support for the innovative development of next-generation intelligent connected vehicles. Currently, engineering samples of the module are available, and several leading automakers have already begun implementing solutions based on the AR588MA series.

Wang Min, General Manager of Quectel's Automotive Pre-installation Business Unit, said: "The application of 5G-A technology in the automotive field precisely matches the core requirements of next-generation intelligent vehicles for ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and extreme reliability. The AR588MA released this time, with its multiple technological advantages, can be fully adapted to key scenarios such as advanced driver assistance, in-vehicle intelligent interaction, and vehicle-road cooperation, laying a solid communication foundation for the global intelligent connected vehicle industry upgrade."

"Ground + Satellite" full coverage, high-speed transmission is more reliable
As MediaTek's first automotive-grade module based on the 5G-A platform, the AR588MA series module boasts industry-leading modem performance. It features a quad-core Cortex-A55 CPU with a clock speed of up to 2.3GHz, enhanced uplink transmission capabilities and ultra-low latency, supports 400 MHz bandwidth and NR 5CC, downlink speeds up to 9.0 Gbps, uplink speeds exceeding 2.5Gbps, and supports DSDA (dual SIM dual standby) functionality. This enables more efficient and stable data transmission and real-time processing while maintaining network connectivity stability, laying a solid communication foundation for the safety and reliability of advanced driver assistance systems.

Meanwhile, the AR588MA achieves a major breakthrough in all-domain communication capabilities. It not only supports 5G-A technology but also integrates satellite communication functions. Combined with enhanced low-frequency reception performance and adaptive network signal compensation algorithms, it significantly improves network performance while achieving full-scenario communication coverage. Even in areas with weak signals such as underground parking garages and remote mountainous regions, vehicles can maintain stable network connectivity, effectively solving the pain point of blind spots in terrestrial network coverage and ensuring continuous communication for vehicles in complex scenarios.

In terms of wireless performance optimization, the AR588MA is compatible with a six-port antenna design and is deeply adapted to Quectel's high-performance smart antenna solution, achieving deep integration of module and antenna performance, thereby providing users with wide coverage and strong signal wireless network performance.

AI-powered intelligent adaptation ensures a smoother network experience.
At this critical juncture in the evolution of intelligent connected vehicles towards higher levels, users are placing higher demands on the smoothness of the in-vehicle network experience.

One of the core competitive advantages of the AR588MA lies in its deep integration of AI technology with in-vehicle communication, achieving an upgrade from "passive connection" to "active adaptation." The module incorporates a driving scene intelligent recognition system and an AI network optimization engine, and boasts quad-core 25K DMIPS/dual-core 13K DMIPS computing power. It can integrate multi-dimensional data such as vehicle positioning, driving speed, and road conditions in real time, automatically matching a better network mode, thereby significantly improving network speed and connection stability, and providing users with a smoother in-vehicle network experience.

Automotive-grade robust quality, ensuring both safety and reliability.
The reliability of automotive products is directly related to driving safety. The AR588MA strictly adheres to automotive-grade design standards and safety systems. On the one hand, it meets the AEC-Q100 Grade 2 automotive standard, ensuring the product's reliability and durability in extreme environments. On the other hand, it complies with the ISO 21434 automotive cybersecurity management system and supports Secure Boot and RoT. Combined with Hypervisor hardware isolation technology, it brings a more stable connection experience and more reliable security to in-vehicle communication.

Functionally, the AR588MA fully supports the eCall/NG-eCall emergency call system. In emergencies such as vehicle collisions, it can automatically trigger a call and transmit critical data such as vehicle location and accident type to the emergency center, buying valuable time for rescue operations. To further improve vehicle positioning reliability, the module also integrates GNSS positioning functionality, supporting L1+L5 dual-frequency positioning with an output frequency of up to 30MHz, providing precise location support for assisted driving path planning and lane-level navigation.

Compatible design for worry-free upgrades, accelerating the deployment of 5G-A in vehicles.
To reduce customer development costs and shorten product launch cycles, the AR588MA adopts a highly compatible design philosophy at both the hardware and software levels.

On the hardware side, it is pin-to-pin compatible with Quectel's AG581A, AG56xN, and AG519M series automotive 5G modules, allowing customers to quickly upgrade from traditional 5G to 5G-A. On the software side, it adopts the QuecOpen architecture, which, with its excellent cross-platform and cross-system compatibility, helps car manufacturers seamlessly port their systems, greatly shortening the product development and verification cycle.

From January 6th to 9th, the AR588MA series will be showcased at CES 2026. Interested customers are welcome to visit Quectel's booth (#10363) at the Las Vegas Convention Center for more detailed information.
