AVX Announces Wet Electrolytic Tantalum Capacitor For Harsh Environment Applications

13

Myrtle Beach, SC - AVX Corporation has developed a wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor that features a patented high capacitance cathode system that enables high CV designs, well beyond the values specified in the Mil-PRF-39006 drawing. Designated the TWA, the wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor series is manufactured and tested to the 93026 specification, and withstands the harsh shock and vibration requirements of 39006.

"Our ultra reliable TWA wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor provides new levels of capacitance and voltages unachievable with previous technologies," said Dan Lane, AVX Tantalum Marketing Manager. "We are the only supplier for two ratings - 2,200uf/25 volt and 1,000uf/60 volt - demonstrating AVX's extended range capability."

The TWA wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor design includes a welded tantalum can and header assembly that provides a hermetic seal to withstand harsh environments. The TWA features an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

Available in a wide range of capacitance and voltage packages including size T1 (A case, up to 10uf in 125VDC) through T4 (E case up to 150uf in 125VDC). AVX also offers customized capacitance and voltage packages. Please contact the factory about design possibilities beyond those contained in this datasheet.
