Antennex To Debut Game-Changing Over-The-Air Noise Figure Measurement At IMS 2025

New add-on enables rapid, alignment-free receiver characterization. No liquid nitrogen or calibrated noise source required.

Antennex, a company that provides characterization solutions for integrated antennas, will debut a disruptive new functionality at the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2025, taking place June 15–20 in San Francisco, California. The live demonstration will be held June 17–19 at Booth #2129, where the company will showcase its latest product innovation: an add-on module that enables OTA Noise Figure measurement of integrated antenna systems.

Noise figure is a critical performance parameter for receivers in both communication and radar systems, directly impacting sensitivity. Traditional methods of characterizing noise figure typically require either external hot/cold noise sources or invasive connection to RF ports. These approaches are often incompatible with modern, tightly integrated antenna arrays. Antennex’s new solution eliminates these constraints entirely.

“This is a major step forward for practical, real-world receiver characterization,” said Anouk Hubrechsen, CEO of Antennex. “By removing the need for antenna alignment, cryogenic cooling, or even physical access to RF connectors, we enable customers to measure noise figure in minutes: accurately, repeatably, and over-the-air.”

Unlike conventional techniques that rely on cumbersome setups including liquid nitrogen or radiated noise sources with careful calibration, Antennex’s method is fully OTA, self-contained, and operator-friendly. The demonstration at IMS will show a complete noise figure characterization performed live, in a realistic setup. The technology was developed in close collaboration with leading industry partners and is currently the subject of multiple standardization initiatives.

In addition to the main demo at Booth #2129, Antennex will also present its Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Power Spectral Density (PSD) testing capabilities at Booth #755, hosted in collaboration with Electro Rent, the company’s US distribution partner.
