Agilent Technologies Introduces Industry's Most-Comprehensive Compliance Testing For MOST And BroadR-Reach Automotive Standards

Company Expands Compliance Test Portfolio to Address Emerging Automotive Serial Buses

Agilent Technologies Inc. recently introduced compliance testing support for MOST (Media-Oriented Systems Transport) and BroadR-Reach standards used in emerging automotive applications. Agilent's solution covers all equipment needed for physical-layer testing, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and pulse/function generators-a combination no other test vendor supplies.

Growing consumer demand for in-vehicle connectivity has driven the need for more effective automotive network testing. MOST is a widely used automotive standard for multimedia and infotainment networking. MOST technology allows many devices, including DVD and CD players, video displays, GPS navigation, Bluetooth(r) devices and voice microphones to simultaneously operate on a single in-vehicle network.

The Agilent MOST compliance application provides an automated test script that allows engineers to quickly and reliably test MOST50 and MOST150 signals. The compliance application can be automated to run over extended periods, and it allows engineers to add incremental user-defined tests. Agilent's 81160A pulse/function generator provides a source for required MOST150 stress-test patterns.

BroadR-Reach technology brings Ethernet capabilities to the car. BroadR-Reach technology can be deployed for 360-degree camera systems, on-board diagnostics and infotainment systems. The technology uses less expensive and lighter cabling than standard Ethernet cabling.

The Agilent BroadR-Reach compliance application provides an easy-to-use automated test suite to determine compliance with the standard. Agilent also provides an Ethernet test fixture that can be used for BroadR-Reach testing. Like other Agilent Infiniium compliance applications, the BroadR-Reach solution can be automated to run over extended periods. Agilent's N9010A spectrum analyzer can be used for power spectral density testing.

In addition to offering compliance testing for MOST and BroadR-Reach technologies, Agilent's Infiniium and InfiniiVision oscilloscopes provide extensive test capabilities for CAN, LIN and FlexRay buses used extensively in the automotive industry.
