Integrated Microwave Assembly (IMA) Technology

Source: Narda Microwave-East - An L-3 Communications Company
Narda's first IMAs manufactured 30 years ago were the Classic MICs designed for EW receivers. Many of these are still in service and production today. In the last few years, Narda has rapidly advanced the state of the art in these products by replacing classical MICs with new approaches using multilayered PC boards, MMICs, and SMT packages.

Narda's first IMAs manufactured 30 years ago were the Classic MICs designed for EW receivers. Many of these are still in service and production today. In the last few years, Narda has rapidly advanced the state of the art in these products by replacing classical MICs with new approaches using multilayered PC boards, MMIC's and SMT packages.

Narda has introduced its Ultimate MICSM Products. These IMAs combine microwave hybrid manufacturing with multilayered printed circuit boards incorporating digital devices to produce levels of performance in footprints unrivaled by conventional techniques.

Narda has also focused on products for low-cost, high-volume applications, and recently introduced its Ultimate SMTSM IMA technology. The Ultimate SMT technology provides for the integration of both standard surface mount components with devices that are assembled using microwave integrated circuit (MIC) chip and wire techniques resulting in small, low-cost yet high-performance subsystems.

Narda also manufactures higher level IMAs incorporating combinations of its standard modules. These RF enclosures (RFEs) are used in many SATCOM converter and transceiver requirements.

The production of reliable and high-performance IMA modules requires considerable resource and effort with the right combination of process, tools and talent. Narda, with over 55 years in the RF and microwave experience, has these resources, and can offer IMAs modules manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities that continually provide the standards of reliability and performance that exemplify the Narda name. Narda looks forward to serving your IMA needs as they arise.
