Electromagnetic Solutions For Military Defense
Government Contracting
Remcom's work in government contracting includes the
development and maintenance of the Electromagnetic Propagation Integrated
Resource Environment (EMPIRE), a custom API that grants users easy and direct
access to a wealth of electromagnetic propagation prediction models. EMPIRE
employs a suite of intelligent propagation tools incorporating a variety of
environmental data sources such as Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED),
weather forecast data from standard sources such as the Air Force Weather Agency
(AFWA) MM5 model and the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC)
COAMPS model, and other data sources valid for radio frequency from 100 KHz to
300 GHz. EMPIRE is designed to be used as a calculation engine within government
software applications, known as Tactical Decision Aids (TDAs), offering both C++
and XML-based interfaces. A number of government TDAs currently use EMPIRE in
this capacity to perform high-fidelity electromagnetic propagation predictions
and analysis, and this list continues to grow.
Remcom also offers a variety of services to government
agencies in the field of electromagnetic modeling and simulation. This ranges
from the performance of scientific research into complex phenomena using our
vast suite of EM and EM propagation software tools, to the development of new
tools to solve issues in the research and development, acquisition, and
operational domains. Remcom has had a very successful track record in
performance of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business
Technology Transfer (STTR) contracts. We have also performed in numerous other
capacities in prime and subcontracting, leveraging our expertise in EM modeling
and simulation from both commercial and government work to provide the highest
quality products and services.
Wireless InSite is site-specific radio propagation software
for the analysis and design of wireless communication systems. It provides
efficient and accurate predictions of propagation and communication channel
characteristics in complex urban, indoor, rural and mixed path environments.
Applications range from military defense to commercial communications:
- Radar
coverage
- Antenna
analysis and optimal placement
- Improvised explosive device (IED) jamming
- Cell
phone system design

Assessing The Impact Of Wind Turbines On Radar Returns
Remcom is participating on a team led by the Raytheon Company, who has been competitively selected by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop an advanced software tool to model and assess the effects of wind turbines on radar systems used throughout the United States. Remcom is leveraging its experience with electromagnetic simulation and software optimization to provide a solution that balances fidelity and performance.
