World's Smallest OCXO

Source: Rakon Limited
New Zealand technology company Rakon has just completed the successful development of the world's smallest OCXO. Called Mercury, the Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) is the result of four years of research and development and is the brainchild of Rakon's advanced technology group based in the UK.

Datasheet: World's Smallest OCXO

Rakon's Mercury, is a miniature OCXO in a small 9 mm x 7 mm SMD package.

Using Rakon's proprietary Mercury ASIC, the OCXO is capable of short term ageing of less than ±5 ppb per day, with temperature stability down to ±10 ppb.

The highly integrated oven ensures short warm up times with a power consumption of only 350 mW at room temperature. Its patented design enables exceptionally high performance at a greatly reduced cost and size - bridging a major gap between TCXOs and traditional, expensive OCXOs.

Applications

  • Basestation
  • Network timing and synchronisation
  • Other

Features
