VCSOs (Voltage Controlled SAW Oscillators)

Our VCSOs (voltage controlled SAW oscillators) are ideally suited for organizations that are involved with OTN and SONET/SDH switching, Carrier Ethernet equipment, and cellular base-station applications using high speed DAC/ADC.
When developing applications that require high frequency and low phase noise/low jitter, Voltage Controlled SAW (surface acoustic wave) based Oscillators are inherently high Q, and as such, possess low phase noise/jitter, all while covering the OC-12 frequency range.
CTS Electronic Components’ VCSOs (Voltage Controlled SAW Oscillators) are well suited for use as a low phase noise and high frequency reference for ADC/DAC applications because their output frequency is based on the fundamental mode of operation of the SAW. CTS doesn’t use multiplication techniques to generate the output frequency, which aids in providing low phase noise and low jitter performance. These VCSOs can also be used as a low jitter reference for PLL-based frequency translators for SONET/SDH and Gigabit Ethernet. The optimal operation frequency range for a SAW resonator falls in the range for both of these applications.
