Testimonial: Chelton Microwave COM-201B and COM-231 Antennas

Source: Cobham
Our experience with the antenna has been exceptional. It is on my vehicle and it never leaves the FOB. But since the airfield is very expansive and built up with multiple emitters throughout we have experienced very poor FM reception with the standard 3900 series antenna as well and transmission. This is particularly bad at the North and South ends of the runway. When we put the 231 on clarity of transmission and reception jumped dramatically. Even when driving through the typically emitter "rich" areas of the airfield we always had clear comms. We built a Styrofoam "donut" to place around the mid section of the antenna so it wouldn't bang against the hard shell top of my vehicle. Otherwise we are EXTREMELY happy with the antenna. Other units around here have taken the COM201, took off the legs (not a good idea) and bolted the antenna on a wood base and then attached it to a 3900 bracket. So it looks like a 231 but does not flex... that is how much soldiers like the COM201/231 series antennas.
