Lowell, MA -- Tyco Electronics announced the availability of the M/A-COM MASW-000822-12770T, a new SP2T broadband PIN diode switch for 0.5 to 6.0 GHz applications. The switch is suitable for higher power WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) base station and military radio applications and features high linearity and power handling. The device provides over 8 Watts (C.W.) power handling coupled with 65 dBm IIP3 for maximum performance.

"The new M/A-COM SP2T broadband switch is an ideal choice for customers who need high power and high linearity for broadband switching, particularly in WiMAX base stations," said Tim Daly, product manager, Tyco Electronics M/A-COM diode products. "In addition to high performance, these switches incorporate polymer protective coatings that prevent damage and contamination during handling and assembly, ensuring that our customers receive the most reliable broadband switches available today."

The MA-COM MASW-000822-12770T is a SP2T, high linearity, common anode, asymmetrical PIN diode switch in 3mm PQFN package. It is ideal for use in the 2.3 to 2.7 and 3.3 to 3.8 GHz WiMAX base station applications, where LNA protection is required. In the transmit antenna state at 3.8 GHz, the switch provides 0.35 dB loss, and 27 dB transmit-receive isolation to protect the LNA. The switch is capable of handling 39 dBm C.W. and 43 dBm peak power, at 3µS pulse width, with 1% duty cycle. The high linearity PIN diode design produces an exceptional 0.8% EVM value at 3.5 GHz (transmit state), 8W incident power with OFDM modulation. Accordingly, at 3.8 GHz, the switch provides 0.5 dB loss and 22 dB transmit-receive isolation in the antenna-receive state for the receive function. The switch can operate from 5V, 12, and 28V or 5V and -15V D.C. power. MA-COM also provides a line of PIN Diode drivers compatible for these switches.
