Multi-Output Chip To Reduce Complexity In Timing For High Speed Switching Applications

The M9200 from MtronPTI is an ultra-low jitter quad output oscillator designed to increase overall performance and accelerate time-to-market while eliminating usage of external components. It simultaneously provides 4 differential or single ended outputs. This oscillator helps to lower costs for high-speed switching applications in datacom, telecom, and server markets.

Most integrated ASICS and high performance switch products require multiple ultra-low jitter reference clocks, and use separate low jitter oscillators and buffers, making it difficult to measure jitter performance. The M9200 eliminates this difficulty by integrating the clock and buffer into the same package with measured output performance, and a best in class maximum RMS jitter specification of 100fs. Samples and evaluations are available on request for these products.

Below is a block diagram that explains the use of the M9200 in Top of the Rack (ToR) applications. With a single chip clocking requirements may be addressed for switch and PHY, making Serdes and PHY clocks synchronized at all times.
