Cobham Wireless To Demonstrate Network Test Capability Under Real Operating Conditions At Mobile World Congress

Real USIM Array technology allows realistic data scenarios to be tested on real networks simulating up to tens of thousands of UEs

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona – Stand 6H21 – Cobham Wireless, formerly Aeroflex wireless business unit, has announced that it will demonstrate its technology capability for validating user experience on installed mobile networks under realistic usage scenarios at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 2 – 5 March 2015. The demonstration will take place on the Cobham Wireless stand, 6H21 in Hall 6.

Cobham Wireless will demonstrate the ability of the TM500 network tester family to verify the performance of a multi-RAT (LTE and WCDMA) network, using an array of real USIM  (User SIM) cards connected to multiple test UEs (user equipment), or mobile devices. It will also show the scalability of the technology up to tens of thousands of UEs, using real data transmission scenarios including HD video streaming. The ability to use network operators’ proprietary security algorithms, and to work with standard 3GPP defined security algorithms, as well as handover of individual UEs and their associated USIMs between LTE base stations, will also be demonstrated.

“In a network the Real USIM Array could be located remotely from both the TM500 and the network – anywhere in the world with Internet access,” said Dr. Hayk Manukyan, Head of Advanced Market Solutions Department at Cobham Wireless. “This opens up some very flexible options for validating the real-life behaviour of operators’ networks under high levels of traffic and stress.”

“Our Real USIM solutions are currently undergoing development trials with a number of Tier 1 mobile network operators”, said Evan Gray, Product and Marketing Director of Cobham Wireless. “The scalability of the USIM array to simulate tens of thousands of UEs working on a live network is crucial to ensuring user experience meets expectations under all kinds of data traffic and mobility conditions.”
