AtlanTecRF's New Dual Channel Loop Test Translator Provides A Unique Test And Monitoring Facility In Satellite Ground Stations And Teleports

The ALD Series of LTTs feature simultaneous translation of transmit (Tx) frequencies to L-band and L-band to receive (Rx) frequencies enabling uplink and downlink parameters to be evaluated at the same time with one instrument.

AtlanTecRF, a leading global RF and microwave components and equipment manufacturer, today launched a range of Dual Channel Loop Test Translators (LTTs) designed to provide a comprehensive test and quality monitoring facility in satellite communications ground stations and teleports.

The ALD series of LTTs, available for operation in both Ka and Ku bands, feature simultaneous translation of transmit (Tx) frequencies to L-band and L-band to receive (Rx) frequencies thereby enabling uplink and downlink parameters to be evaluated at the same time and with one instrument.

The architecture of each channel contains a synthesised local oscillator (LO), the frequency of which can be changed in either 25 MHz steps or 1 KHz steps so that the Tx and Rx bands relate to the L-band modem frequencies of 950-1700 MHz or 950-2450 MHz.

The transfer characteristics of each path can also be defined independently in terms of attenuation range, conversion loss and filtering to suit the performance requirements of the individual station.

Control of both LO frequency and transfer attenuation is achieved either locally with easy-to-use touch controls or remotely via ethernet with GUI, and separately for each of the two links.

Frequency stability is assured with a choice of either internal OCXO with better than +/-0.05ppm over temperature or by an external 10 MHz system source, the choice being made either locally or remotely on the rack mount instrument. LO phase noise at 27 GHz for the Ka band instrument is -110 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset and non-signal related spurious are guaranteed at below -60 dBc.

"What makes the ALD product range unique is the simultaneous translation of transmit (Tx) frequencies to L-band and L-band to receive (Rx) frequencies. Now users can test and monitor uplink and downlink signals at the same time using just one instrument," revealed CEO, Geoff Burling.

Enclosed in a 19” x 2U rack chassis the Dual Channel LTT has clean lines in front panel controls and all the interconnects are located on the rear panel for convenient installation.
