The Model 5500 is a handheld signal strength receiver designed for measuring signals from -20 to -110dBm in the cellular and PCS bands. The signal strength and frequency are displayed on a backlit LCD for easy monitoring. A simple keypad on the front panel allows the user to change frequency, switch bands, or turn on the backlight. Internal rechargable NiMH batteries provide power for 4 to 6 hours of operation. The receiver can also be controlled via an RS232 serial port on a PC or terminal. RxScan, Windows based software is provided with the receiver to add scanning capability. After installing this software on a laptop or other PC, the user can scan selected frequencies or entire bands. Signal strength data can be displayed or logged in a Microsoft© Excel spreadsheet for analysis.
