RFMD's second-generation WLAN solution for 802.11b applications provides high-performance characteristics and offers significant advantages in cost, power consumption and size. The solution is comprised of the RF2958 single-chip transceiver featuring RFMD's superheterodyne architecture with proven single-band performance. The synthesizer and VCOs are integrated on-chip, requiring a small number of external components. Packaged in a 32-pin, 5x5mm package, the transceiver is the smallest solution available to date and allows a minimum bill of materials. To complete the system, RFMD offers the small, high-performance RF5189 linear power amplifier and the RF3002 baseband processor featuring a standard interface that is compatible with multiple MACs.
