The RF3330 is an analog, programmable gain amplifier designed for use in cable modems, set top boxes and pay-per-view systems. Operating from a single 4.75V-5.25V (5V) power supply, the RF3330 offers a 26 dB voltage gain range to supplement signal levels at the IF output of RF tuners. The differential design aids designers in interfacing the RF tuner output with the input of the cable modem baseband chipset.

The gain is set with an analog voltage from .5 to 3.3V, with corresponding linear voltage gain from 8 to 34dB. Input impedance is set differentially at 2 kW RF Micro Devices to facilitate matching with standard IF SAW devices. The output impedance is differentially set to 10W to match standard cable modem demodulator baseband chips. The small outline device consumes little board space and current (18mA typical), easing production and manufacturing yield issues for cable modem and set top box manufacturers. The IF bandwidth is internally limited to 150MHz and is ample enough for both major European and U.S. IF frequency standards.

Manufactured using Si BiCMOS, the RF3330 is offered in a SOT23-8 pin package.
