RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) have become familiar acronyms to anyone involved in electronics manufacturing. These are the European Union directives that ban the use of lead and five other substances in many electronics applications, effectively initiating the worldwide leadfree movement that has resulted in other countries enacting similar legislation.
