Chicago -- PCTEL, Inc. announced the commercial availability of HSDPA measurement capabilities in its SeeGull WCDMA and WCDMA/GSM (3-band) scanner solutions. Both scanner solutions seamlessly generate RF measurements for UMTS and HSDPA standards.

The company is addressing the needs of WCDMA operators that are now deploying HSDPA in order to offer high speed data, enable wireless video services, and other advanced wireless services to compete with Wi-Fi, EVDO and even ADSL. This capability is the latest addition to the line of software-defined scanning receivers that allow for customization for customers' needs, field upgradeability and production efficiencies.

"We are pleased to be able to satisfy the many customer requests to support measurements for HSDPA networks by adding this capability to our SeeGull scanners," said Larry Sakayama, General Manager of PCTEL's RF Solutions Group. "As with WCDMA, HSDPA carriers are turning to drive test measurements as a key source of data for effective network optimization."

The SeeGull product line includes scanner solutions covering all the major wireless technologies as well as indoor solutions and a WCDMA transmitter for indoor coverage planning. The product is available globally and is sold directly or integrated within drive test solutions.
