As a designer and manufacturer of RF amplifiers, we have always been confident in telling our customers that the more power output, the “better” your communications link. Just what “better,” is needs defining, of course.

Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG
Digital pre-distortion (DPD) is a common method to linearize the output signal of a power amplifier (PA) that is being operated in its non-linear operating range. This article describes an approach to generate a pre-distorted signal based on a hard-clipper. The resulting waveform pushes the output of the DUT as close to the hard-clipper as possible.

Analog Devices
Radio frequency (RF) and microwave amplifiers provide their best performance under specific bias conditions. The quiescent current established by the bias point affects critical performance metrics such as linearity and efficiency. While some amplifiers are self-biased, many devices require external biasing using multiple supplies that must be sequenced properly for safe operation.

The XO9095 is an OCXO integrated with low noise multipliers, filters for superior spectral purity, and low noise discrete amplifiers to generate a high-frequency, low phase noise sinewave output from 200 MHz to 6 GHz. The XO9095 employs an in-house manufactured precision SC-cut crystal, which drives the tight stability, low g-sensitivity, and low phase noise performance of the OCXO.
