Mercury Electronics Europe Announces New Wide Operating Temperature Crystal Oscillators

Mercury Electronics Europe has announced a new range of wide operating temperature crystal oscillators that are ideal for use in automotive applications. The new surface mount HY series offers 15pF load LVCMOS output at frequencies from 1.25 to 50.0MHz over the temperature range -40 to +125°C with choice of frequency stability of ±50 and ±100ppm. Frequency stability of ±25ppm is also available over commercial (-10 to +70°C) and industrial (-40 to +85°C) ranges. MEC Europe can also provide non-standard frequency stability specifications if required, e.g. ±20 or ±30ppm.

Offering superior phase noise characteristics of -155dBc/Hz at 10kHz and -160dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset, the new HY series oscillators are available in three package sizes 3.2 x 2.5 x1.0mm, 5.0 x 3.2 x 1.2mm and 7.0 x 5.0 x 1.4mm. Supply voltages for these are 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3V respectively and typical current consumption is 2 to 4mA from 1.25 to 19.99MHz and 4 to 6mA from 20.0 to 50.0MHz depending on package size.

RMS phase jitter is 150fs typical (12kHz to 20MHz integrated). Specifications include ageing of ±2.0ppm/year maximum for first year, start-up time of 5.0ms maximum, rise/fall time of 10ns maximum and duty cycle (symmetry) of 50% ±10% typical with ±5% available as an option.

MEC Europe is an approved supplier to the automotive industry with IATF16949 approval, reinforcing the company’s commitment to longevity and ruggedness as well as design innovation in the taxing automotive component environment.
