Mercury Electronics Europe Announces New Low Current Clock Oscillators

Mercury Electronics Europe has announced a new range of temperature compensated crystal oscillators (TCXO) that are designed for high accuracy timing in a broad range of applications. The new ME32T series offers 15pF CMOS output at a frequency of 32.768kHz with a maximum frequency stability of ±5ppm over the industrial temperature range −40 to +85°C.

Typical current consumption of 1.5µA makes the ME32T suitable for use in battery-powered devices while its 3.28 x 2.15 x 1.3mm ceramic SMD package is ideal for microminiature and embedded applications. The new TCXOs are available with supply voltages of 1.8, 2.5, 3.0, 3.3 and 5.0V (all ±5%).

Mercury’s new ME32T low current clock features a proprietary temperature compensation technique applied to the built-in 32.768kHz tuning fork crystal and temperature sensor to deliver superior timekeeping accuracy of ±2.62minutes/year. Applications include frequency reference for real time clocks (RTCs), portable instruments, smart metering, data loggers, GPS transceivers, telematics and timing synchronisation for networks, hubs, routers and switches.

Specifications include ageing of ±3.0ppm/year maximum for first year, start-up time of 1s maximum at 25°C, 3s maximum over industrial temperature range, rise/fall time of 100ns maximum and duty cycle (symmetry) of 50% ±10% typical.
