Isolators And Circulators

Corry Micronics offers a full range of isolators and circulators. A circulator is a ferrite device and usually has three ports. The signal path either circulates in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. Circulators are used to duplex two signals. Often circulators are used to combine the transmit and receive signal which are connected to an antenna.

Isolators are essentially the same design as a circulator except that one of the ports is terminated resulting in only one output. Isolators are installed so that they "Isolate" the output. This isolation prevents damaging standing waves from getting back to the transmitter's output stage which would result in a transmitter circuit's failure.
