Instructure Selects Four Edtech Startups To Participate In The Launch Of Its Partner Booster Program

New program designed to help accelerate startup companies' growth

Salt Lake City, UT /PRNewswire/ -- Instructure, Inc. (NYSE: INST), a leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology company in education, learning and performance management, announced today it has selected the four edtech startups that will participate in its Canvas Partner Booster Program. The program was announced earlier this year, and the four organizations were selected out of many applicants. They are Boclips, Inkerz, MobLab, and Pronto.

"It wasn't too long ago that Instructure was a scrappy startup and we are happy to be part of other startups' success," said Melissa Loble, vice president of Partnerships at Instructure. "We know there are hundreds of hungry young startups out there and we selected several who are at the right stage and are a great fit for our accelerator program."

Program participants were selected based on several key criteria including innovation in the edtech space through cloud-hosted technology. In addition, qualified organizations had to have fewer than 25 employees, be younger than five years old as a company or offer a product less than three years in market.

As inaugural members of the Partner Booster Program, participants receive:

  • Free participation in the Instructure Partner Program
  • Participation in a Booster Partner Day
  • Canvas sandbox access for testing and development
  • Access to Instructure's Partner Support team for technical support and guidance
  • Free participation at a CanvasCon event
  • Reduced cost sponsorship opportunities at InstructureCon

Also included among the benefits of the program is participation in Startup Alley at InstructureCon, an area featuring up-and-coming technology companies. Startup Alley is sponsored by EPIC Ventures, a venture capital firm that has been working closely with Instructure on the Booster Program's development.

"Instructure is an amazing success story of entrepreneurship in education, and a landmark investment for EPIC and other investors in the space," said Chris Calder, director at EPIC Ventures. "We're excited to work alongside Instructure through the newly created Booster Program in supporting the ecosystem of startups innovating in education."

Winning companies include:

  • Boclips: Boclips has aggregated more than three million videos into a single cloud-based video platform. Proprietary algorithms then map these clips to the curricula and courses used by education providers around the world. All videos are rights-ready for education and updated daily.
  • Inkerz: With Inkerz, teachers can use any pen and any paper with any camera and project directly to student devices. Math and chemistry teachers can walk students through complex equations and art teachers can demonstrate methods stroke by stroke right in front of each student.
  • MobLab: MobLab created a new kind of laboratory because the social world cannot be explored with old equipment. MobLab connects students in virtual platforms to play games that will help them learn first hand the principles of the social sciences.
  • Pronto: Pronto brings a campus community feel to a student's mobile device by providing technology that connects students with mentors, instructors, administrators, and most importantly, one another. Students can quickly create groups, communicate and collaborate at anytime.
