4-Channel, 14-bit, 65 MHz DAC Board
The ICS660 is the newest DAC board in the "Precision in PCI" family of analog I/O products. Designed for a wide variety of data conversion applications that require a high dynamic range, including radar, cellular base station and test and measurements, the ICS-660 digital IF transmit-processing DAC board significantly advances the state of the art by combining the ultimate in analog, digital, and DSP technologies in one short PCI board.

The ICS-660—a 4-channel, 14-bit, 65-MHz DAC board—offers over 72 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and over 80 dB spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) at update rates as high as 65 MHz per channel. The ICS660 includes 8 MB of "swing buffer" memory that supports three different data conversion modes, a powerful PCI DMA interface and a 160-MB/s FPDP interface, the most widely supported data port in the VME world.

The large 4-Msample swing buffer can be operated for continuous, one-shot and loop modes of data conversion. The loop mode provides a convenient method for generating periodic waveforms, because the buffer memory needs to be initialized only once with one period of the waveform data. In continuous mode, the powerful PCI DMA and FPDP interfaces can support continuous operation at high speeds. Both the update clock and the trigger signal can be either internal or external.

For SDR applications, the ICS-660 can be fitted with the DC-60-M1 digital modulator module for programmable digital up-conversion of input signals. Using the modulator, the input data can be supplied at a much lower rate than the final sample update rate. The modulator performs programmable interpolation to effectively increase the sampling rate of the input signal by as much as 65,536 before multiplying it with a carrier signal. The modulator daughter card enables multicarrier, transmit by using up to 16 independent carrier frequencies
