Mini-Circuits has worked together with modeling and measurement specialists, Modelithics to give you twenty-five new, FREE, high-accuracy substrate-scalable simulation models for Mini-Circuits products. These models were developed for popular designs from our LFCN low-pass and HFCN high-pass filter families as well as RCAT and YAT attenuators. Our partnership with Modelithics has again expanded simulation capabilities for customers after the release of free X-Parameters-based models for selected Mini-Circuits amplifiers in July. Mini-Circuits is pleased to continue our commitment to providing best-in-class product support by sponsoring these new simulation models for free use by designers evaluating our components in their prototypes.
The new filter and attenuator models are substrate-scalable and based on measurements accurately de-embedded to well-defined reference planes at the edge of the component, providing designers with a superior level of accuracy and design confidence. Filter models are validated up to 13 GHz, and attenuator models are validated up to 30 GHz, depending on the frequency specifications of each component as outlined in the information data sheet included with each model. The free downloads are ready to use with Agilent ADS; models for other simulators are available from Modelithics upon request.
Modelithics co-founder, Dr. Larry Dunleavy comments that the models will “enable software prototypes and help customers using these components in their module designs achieve faster agreement between measurement and simulation.” Such enhanced software simulation capability permits faster design cycles, lower design cost, and less waste associated with physical simulation and performance evaluation.
