Fast and Accurate Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Measurements

PIM (passive intermodulation) occurs at very high power levels and is common in duplex filters, cables, and connectors. PIM signals can degrade a receiver’s sensitivity in wireless communications systems because they sometimes coincide with the receiver path frequency. Because of this, testing for PIM in components in their production phase is very important. This application note discusses fast and accurate ways to measure and detect passive intermodulation.
