AWR Releases Latest Mobile WiMAX Design Capability For VSS
The VSS Mobile WiMAX technology enables radio-frequency and baseband system-on-chip designers, component suppliers, original equipment manufacturers, user equipment companies, and infrastructure and network equipment providers to design and verify WiMAX-certified products. The software contains all bit-level processing defined in the 802.16e specifications, as well as the receiver functionality and the ability to incorporate circuit and RF interactions.
"The VSS WiMAX solution enables engineers to capture the specifications and accurately simulate their designs to ensure they meet the conformance tests specified in the 802.16 standard," said Dr. George Chrisikos, engineering director of systems development at AWR. "Our close partnerships with key customers to develop mutually beneficial new technologies for wireless design have driven the delivery of this important new capability and enabled us to validate our results against real-world measured data."
The new solution was recently used by an emerging fabless semiconductor company that develops WiMAX chipsets using advanced wireless communication techniques. Using AWR's VSS software and the new WiMAX module, the engineers were able to make design decisions and to see the interaction of the architecture, circuit devices, parameters, and RF impairments early in their WiMAX chipset development cycle.
A beta version of the VSS Mobile WiMAX software is available immediately and full production release of the software is available for Q1 2007. The product will be available directly from AWR through its direct sales offices and worldwide distribution channels at no charge to current VSS customers.
