AWR Connected For ANSYS Expands To Tie HFSS S-parameters Into Microwave Office Software

Source: Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

SAN FRANCISCO – International Microwave Symposium – AWR Connected™ for ANSYS now offers an integrated two-way link between ANSYS® HFSS™ and NI AWR Design Environment™, specifically Microwave Office circuit design software, enabling RF/microwave designers to seamlessly tie HFSS extracted S-parameters back into NI AWR software. This integration unites two industry-standard design tools, HFSS full-wave electromagnetic (EM) field simulation and Microwave Office, to quickly and accurately simulate microwave circuits.

This expanded flow between Microwave Office and HFSS leverages the latest implementation of NI AWR Design Environment’s EM Socket™ II architecture, which enables designers to access a broad range of third-party electromagnetic (EM) products from within the circuit design platform. NI AWR software users who have standardized on HFSS as their EM simulator can seamlessly export 3D layout geometry, stack-up information, materials, port locations, boundary conditions and frequency range to HFSS.  HFSS performs the EM field simulation and back annotates the results to Microwave Office software.  Automating this flow greatly reduces design time and increases design quality by eliminating manual steps and the possibility of errors associated with importing and exporting circuit designs for EM simulation.

Software demonstrations of the expanded flow will take place during IMS2016 in San Francisco within NI booth #1529 and ANSYS booth #1539.
