VectorStar® and ShockLine™ VNAs Headline Test Leader’s Offering that Help Engineers Validate Microwave and Millimeter Designs

At IMS 2104, Anritsu Company (booth #715) will re-affirm its heritage as the market leader in vector network analyzer (VNA) technology with enhancements to its VectorStar MS4640B VNA family, as well as the introduction of the ShockLine VNA series that combines price and performance. Anritsu will also participate in two high-frequency test discussions during IMS, which will be held June 3-5 in Tampa, FL.

“Anritsu Company continues to be a leader in high-frequency analysis by providing test solutions that meet the requirements of advanced designs. We released the first true VNA in 1965 and our on-going tradition as the market leader will be on display at IMS 2014 with VNA solutions that satisfy specific industry needs,” said Pete Alexander, PhD, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu Company.

VNA Technology
At IMS, Anritsu will introduce the MN469xC 4-port test set and Optoelectronic Measurements application for its VectorStar VNA family that bring the inherent advantages of the VectorStar platform – including the world’s first VNA to cover the range  of 70 kHz to 145 GHz in a single sweep – to more applications. The MN469xC makes the VectorStar the only 4-port solution to provide high-quality S-parameter measurements down to 70 kHz for more accurate DC term estimation to maximize the chances of simulation convergence. The Optoelectronic Measurements application unveiled at IMS can be integrated with the VectorStar to create the first VNA that can characterize magnitude and phase of E/O and O/E devices up to 65 GHz.

Also at IMS, Anritsu will introduce the ShockLine VNAs that fill the market need for price-performance in simple engineering, manual and automated manufacturing, and cost-sensitive education applications. Designed specifically for testing passive devices, the ShockLine family consists of three instrument series of 2- and 4-port VNAs with operation up to 40 GHz. They deliver lower cost-of-ownership and very high performance by incorporating four key design traits: patented shockline VNA-on-a-chip technology to achieve microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies; simplified measurement capability, such as single-ended and mixed-mode S-parameter measurements including time domain analysis; compact and rugged 2U high rack-mount housing; and a common ShockLine GUI and SCPI interface.

Speaking Engagements
Anritsu’s leadership position in high-frequency testing will be evident at IMS 2014 with two speaking engagements, as well. Steve Reyes, senior product manager, will be a panelist on the MicroApps session on Wednesday, June 4. The panel will examine the challenges to device design and device/system testing for 5G technologies such as mmWave/TeraHertz transceivers, Massive MIMO, Carrier Aggregation, CoMP, AESA radios, and SDR. On Thursday, June 5, Masaaki Fuse will present a paper that proposes the development of a millimeter-wave spectrum measurement system with pre-selector above 100 GHz. Results of investigation into a prototype of the proposed system will be discussed.
